Swietenia mahagoni, also known as Acajou De Cuba or West Indian Mahogany, is a highly sought-after species of mahogany wood that is native to southern Florida and islands in the Caribbean. Despite being listed as "Threatened" in the Preservation of Native Flora of Florida Act, it remains popular among shipbuilders, furniture makers, and instrument manufacturers due to its superior tonewood qualities and durability. As the national tree of the Dominican Republic, efforts are needed to protect and conserve this valuable and threatened species.
Scarification: soak in warm water, let stand in water for 12 hours
