Manihot esculenta, commonly known as cassava, is a woody shrub native to South America. It belongs to the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae. Cassava is extensively cultivated as an annual crop in tropical and subtropical regions for its tuberous root, which is rich in carbohydrates and serves as a significant source of dietary sustenance. It is referred to as yuca in Spanish and in the United States, and when processed into a powdery or pearly extract, it is known as tapioca. In its fried and granular form, it is called garri.
The easiest and fastest way to grow cassava is by inserting a bare stem cutting that is 1/3 to 1/2 the length of 6 to 8 inches into the soil. Please note that the cassava stem cuttings you will receive for your order will not have any leaves.
